The RMK (State Forest Management Centre) was declared this year’s most competitive agricultural and forestry holding at the competition of Estonia’s most competitive enterprise, organised in the framework of a joint programme of the EAS (Enterprise Estonia), the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Estonian Employers’ Confederation.

The RMK, a manager of state forests, is a profit-making state agency established by the Forest Act, the main function of which is the sustainable and effective management of state forests: reforestation, tending and use of forest, and organisation of forest protection. The RMK organises game care and ensures forest use related to everyone’s right. The RMK manages 38% of Estonia’s forestlands.

The most competitive enterprises were determined in 11 categories by their fields of activity.
 
Vertex Estonia was awarded one of the two main prizes - Business Award 2006. Hansapank was the most competitive enterprise this year.

The objective of the compilation of the competitiveness list is to offer enterprises the possibility of comparing themselves with their rivals and evaluating the successfulness, effectiveness and sustainability of their business.
 
561 companies, 513 of which qualified for the compilation of the final list, took part in the competitiveness list competition in 2006.
